For Students
I welcome motivated students who are interested in applied microeconomics, public finance, and development economics. Whether you are looking for research assistantship opportunities or thesis supervision, I'd be glad to hear from you.
What I Look For
I am looking for students who share my commitment to understanding how markets and states can work better — particularly for those at the margins. The qualities I value most are:
- Attention to detail and passion for societal problems — I prioritize students who care deeply about solving societal problems, and who approach research with meticulousness and intellectual curiosity.
- High motivation and willingness to invest time — Research is demanding. I look for students who are self-driven, take ownership of their work, and are willing to put in the hours needed to produce quality output.
- Python and AI/ML skills — Python proficiency is strongly preferred. Familiarity with machine learning, NLP, or AI tools for economic analysis is a valuable addition.
- Quantitative foundation — Comfort with econometrics, causal inference, or data analysis using R, Stata, or Python-based tools.
- Clear communication — Ability to articulate complex findings concisely and accessibly, both in writing and verbally.
